Flag Art Monadria

During the renaissance, the art of flag waving gradually developed in Italy to organize “flag shows”. These spectacular and solemn appearances should not only involve and entertain the audience but also demonstrate the abilities of the ensign. And so a new type of art emerged that was completely unknown until then.

The art of flag waving brought forth a tradition that still lives in Italy today. Large tournaments and shows by flag wavers groups take place here and are considered as a very respected part of the presentation of individual cities or their parts.

All members of our group have been dealing with history and historical fencing for a long time. The art of working with flags appealed to us so much that we decided to continue to develop in this way. We started using the flags many years ago, initially for our own pleasure. Over time, however, we have decided to show this art in the eyes of the audience.

We strive to further develop our flag waving arts by not only enhancing flag control skills, but also creating choreographies for flag shows based on a combination of flags, fencing and combat. What is new, however, is the connecting element of our performances, dance, whether with a flag or a weapon. Our goal and wish is to present the audience with an unusual and exciting performance, in which they can admire the beauty of the flags blooming in the wind and the grace of movement in dance and combat.
